Our St. Vincent de Paul Indy family has accomplished some remarkable things. In our 2021 fiscal year, which ended September 30, we helped thousands in need, gave out millions of pounds of food, and helped restore dignity and self-reliance to many of our neighbors in need. All of this while still struggling with the pandemic and all that entailed.
In our 2021 Impact Report, you can see the numbers that measure our impact in Indianapolis and across the area we serve in central and southern Indiana. But we are more than just numbers. We are a spirit-filled network of friends doing good daily for our neighbors in need. It may be just a smile we share with a pantry shopper, or a prayer we say during a home visit. But these personal relationships make all the difference to those we serve—and to us, too.
As one pantry shopper has said to us, “Thank you—not just for the food but for the people. They are so friendly, and they don’t look down on us or frown at us. You just don’t know what a blessing it is to be able to come to the food pantry. When you don’t have money to buy food, it’s really hard.”
As much as we have accomplished, we know we must do more. We help hundreds of neighbors experiencing homelessness in Indianapolis each week. We offer food, clothing and other essentials with a warm smile, but this is still a hand-out. We need to offer these unsheltered neighbors a hand-up. Our big dream is to add a third facility to our Indy operations that will provide transitional housing, skill-building and life-changing support to lift them off the streets and into a better life.
Such a dream would only be possible with the support of our gracious volunteers and donors. Look at what you’ve done!
