John and his wife, Sharon, have three grown children and have been members of Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) for over 30 years. He has been a board member (or chair) for a number of organizations, such as Saint Elizabeth/Coleman Adoption Services and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Currently, he is a board member of the Serra Club and serves on the IHM School Commission.
John has just completed a short-term, albeit full-time, volunteer position as the Executive Director to the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee. Just prior to that, John had been volunteering at the SVdP Food Pantry three times a week. He was drawn to SVdP for two reasons: (1) the clients – who are always appreciative, warm, and friendly and (2) the volunteers – who are welcoming, hard working, and fun!
In the public sector, John held positions as the City Prosecutor, Corporation Counsel, and Deputy Mayor for the City of Indianapolis. He was also the Director for the Department of Child Services under Governors Daniels and Pence. In the private sector, John was a partner with the law firm of Ice Miller and a vice president at American United Life (AUL).
