By Darlene Sweeney, Director of Volunteer Services

We are excited to announce the launch of our new Volunteer Management System. This system will replace Sign Up Genius effective July 1, 2024. The new system provides more flexibility to manage over 7,000 volunteers on an annual basis. We will be more efficient in tracking volunteer hours, generating reports and communicating with our volunteers.

Two Important Things to Know

  • You must enroll in the new system to be able to volunteer with SVdP Indy after July 1.
  • You must complete both phases of this process:
  • Registration in the online portal begins the process
  • Enrollment by providing your additional information (emergency contact info, etc.) completes the process

How to Get Started

ALL VOLUNTEERS (See exceptions below for those who track hours and group volunteers*)

  • Enroll online at https://portal.svdpindy.org/login/register or scan the QR code with your smartphone.
  • Be aware that you will need to access your email account for security purposes to complete your enrollment. (Helpful hint: We recommend you enroll and register on the same device where you access your email account. Please note that you will never need your password again. The password is mandatory for this initial enrollment, however, in the future, the system will recognize you through your email address.)
  • Once you register, you will receive an email to sign in to the SVdP Volunteer Portal to complete your enrollment. Click the link in the email.
  • At the bottom of the screen, click the green “Edit Contact Info” button. This takes you to the SVdP Indy Volunteer Information page where you can enter your emergency contact information, etc. Please add your church, school or company affiliation.
  • Click the Save button—now you’re enrolled!

RECURRING VOLUNTEERS (i.e. once a week)

In addition to the above steps, go to the “Notes” section on the SVdP Indy Volunteer Information page and input:

  • What volunteer job you do at SVdP Indy
  • When (day of the week) you volunteer

EXAMPLES:

  • Food Pantry Intake Clerk – Thursday AM
  • Distribution Center Volunteer – Wednesdays
  • Food Pantry Home Delivery Driver – Wednesdays (Note: Please include your route)

Once you are enrolled, we will set up your recurring schedule for you in the system.

*VOLUNTEERS WHO TRACK HOURS (i.e., Students using MobileServe, x2VOL; SCSEP, CWEP, Court-ordered community service, RSVP)

We will provide more detailed instructions in the near future. Your check-in will use a simple QR code. No need to register or enroll at this time.

*GROUP VOLUNTEERS

All groups should continue to contact Darlene Sweeney, Director of Volunteer Services, at dsweeney@svdpindy.org. We will be tracking groups in the second phase of creating this system.

Questions?

If you have issues with the system or see something that isn’t clear or confusing, please let us know so we can address it. You can provide questions or comments by emailing volunteers@svdpindy.org.

We appreciate your patience as we launch this new system. Thank you for your past and future commitment as a volunteer with St. Vincent de Paul Indianapolis. We simply couldn’t do it without you!
