New! Sign Up Online to Volunteer As Saturday Distribution Center Driver or Helper

In keeping with our goal of improving the Saturday morning collection process, St. Vincent de Paul has obtained a very simple volunteer software called “SignUp Genius” that will make it easier for

• the Saturday morning collection truck volunteer to let us know he/she is coming,
• the District President to determine that all the slots are filled by volunteers from his District, and
• the route schedulers to plan the number of stops each truck must make to pick up donations for that day.

Believe us … IT’S EASY and requires little of your time.

Instructions to follow:

1. Go to this link: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/508084da5a628a0fa7-saturday
2. Register as a SignUp Genius volunteer. (One-time sign up.)

1. Click on Create a Sign up (upper right-hand)
2. Enter first name, last name, email, password, etc.
3. Click on register.

1. Go back and click on the link again.
2. Reserve your date(s) to volunteer either as a driver or a helper. Sign up on the dates you are available that are designated for your District first. If there are other dates you would like to volunteer and there are openings, you may sign up on those dates as well. You may sign up for as many dates in advance as you like for either a driver or a helper.
3. List the name of your SVdP Conference under “List Conference.” If you do not belong to a Conference, you may list the name of your parish or simply list “Other.”
4. Sign up no later than 3:00pm on the Wednesday prior to the Saturday volunteer date.
5. Your District President (or his designee) will check SignUp Genius by 6:00pm on Wednesday to make certain all the slots are filled.
6. You will receive a reminder of your volunteer activity from SignUp Genius 2 days prior to the volunteer date.
7. Cancelling your volunteer spot: It is your responsibility to go back into SignUp Genius to remove your name if you can no longer volunteer (or inform your District President). You must do so by 3:00pm on the Wednesday prior to the Saturday volunteer date. Only the person who created the original signup can delete it. This will give others an opportunity to sign up so we are not left short of truck drivers and helpers.

If you don’t have internet access or simply don’t want to do this on line, call your District President (or his designee) by 3:00pm on the Wednesday prior to the Saturday volunteer date and indicate your desire to volunteer as a Truck Driver or Truck Helper. He/she will do the rest.

Following is a list of the dates for each District:

North: 2017 dates:  9/9, 10/7, 11/4, and 12/9

2018 dates: 1/6, 2/3, 3/3, 3/31, 5/5, 6/9, 7/14, 8/11, 9/15, 10/13, 11/10, and 12/15

South: 2017 dates:  9/16, 10/14, 11/11, and 12/16

2018 dates: 1/3, 2/10, 3/10, 4/14, 5/12, 6/16, 7/21, 8/18, 9/22, 10/20, and 11/17

East: 2017 dates:  9/23, 10/21, and 11/18

2018 dates:  1/20, 2/17, 3/17, 4/21, 5/19, 6/23, 7/28, 8/25, 9/29, 10/27, and 12/1

West: 2017 dates:  9/30, 10/28, and 12/2

2018 dates:  1/27, 2/24, 3/24, 4/28, 6/2, 6/30, 8/4, 9/8, 10/6, 11/3, and 12/8

That’s all there is to it. Then just show up at the SVdP Distribution Center, 1201 E. Maryland, by 7:45am on the Saturday you have signed up for and be ready to work for Jesus. The Saturday morning donation pickups are one of the most important activities at the Distribution Center. If we don’t receive the donations, we cannot assist those in need in our community nor have enough merchandise to supply our Mission 27 Resale Store. Thank you for being a part of it.
